Our son's bleeding disorder was misdiagnosed as shaken baby syndrome when he collapsed at four months old. My husband and I were accused of causing the bleeding in his brain and eyes. My husband had to move out of the house and I was not allowed to be alone with my children. It took six months and tens of thousands of dollars to get our case dismissed. Even worse, because doctors jumped to the conclusion of SBS our son's disorder was undiagnosed, putting him in danger if he had another bleed. No family should be put through such an ordeal simply because a child has a disorder that is difficult to diagnose.
